The Story

The neighborhood's kitchen table has been set since before your alarm went off.

Oblate Cafe is an old-school, family-run Tex-Mex cafe on Oblate Drive in north-central San Antonio. The tortillas are made in house, the salsa is homemade, and the plates come out big enough to argue over. Regulars from Shearer Hills and beyond start filing in when the doors open at six.

Breakfast rolls into lunch, lunch rolls into dinner plates — enchiladas, fajitas, slow-simmered guisados — served fast and friendly, the way a neighborhood cafe should.
